Any student currently enrolled at Western Nebraska Community College may contribute artwork for display. All works of art that are candidates for display at the College first undergo a process of review and selection by a committee consisting of members of the art faculty and library staff. To request an exhibit please fill out the Art Exhibit Request Form.
No works of art that have not been approved by this committee may be placed on public display. Any unapproved work may be considered vandalism and may be removed without notice by college personnel.
The library is committed to providing all users with an environment that is safe, well-maintained, and conducive to study and research. All users are expected to engage in behavior that is respectful of the facilities, materials, and rights of others. The following criteria are used in selecting exhibits:
The duration of an exhibit will be determined by the Library Director, based on the availability of exhibit space and other events scheduled in the Learning Commons. Only the artist, the library staff, or authorized representatives with written permission will be permitted to remove the artwork from the exhibit space.
Art may be exhibited in the Learning Commons along the gym wall. All artwork must be ready to display. Work must be installed using existing picture rails. Artists will be responsible for the provision of labels and mounting equipment, hanging and arranging artwork, and the delivery and retrieval of artwork to and from the library.
The library will neither purchase nor profit from artwork temporarily exhibited in the library. Contact information for the artist may be displayed, but prices for artwork may not be listed.
The Western Nebraska Community College Library will provide minimal security for art exhibits. The library does not provide insurance for student artwork on exhibition and is not liable for damaged or stolen art works. Insurance for artwork is the sole responsibility of the artist.
