Argumentation Essay

Objective: To use the information presented in class to effectively compose an Argumentation Essay on a topic of your choice. This essay must have research to support your thoughts and ideas. While writing this essay take into account the following steps in effective writing:

  1. Organization of the essay
  2. A first draft of the essay
  3. A revision of the essay
  4. Research to support the main ideas in the essay
  5. The essay persuades readers to believe a certain way
  6. Essay goes beyond “I think” and “I Believe”
  7. Thoughts ARE NOT PLAGIARIZED!
  8. A complete Works Cited page and in-text citation are present.
  9. Essay will be written in 3rd person—Essays written in 1st or 2nd person will not receive a grade higher than a 50%

The essay must include an introductory paragraph, a minimum of three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. This essay must be six to eight pages in length, and you must use a minimum of five different scholarly sources. You must also use proper MLA in-text citations, as well as a properly formatted MLA Works Cited Page. Essays without in-text citations or a Works Cited page will receive a zero (0) on the assignment. This essay carries double weight—200 points.

Format:

  1. 1” margins
  2. 12 point Times New Roman font
  3. Title centered
  4. Name, Class, and Date left justified, double spaced
  5. A header with your last name and page number right hand justified
  6. Use double spacing throughout the essay
  7. 10 percentage points will be deducted for essays with incorrect formatting
